Get Started
As you get started on the settings page, there are only two things to decide to begin with. First, if you are a classical singer, your music type is classical; anything else is Karaoke. Yes, this covers everything, including light music.
The second decision is your scale (also known as your Sur, Sa, Patti, Scale; all mean the same thing). If you are not sure, male singers should start with C# (Kali 1), and female singers should start with A# (Kali 5). If you find difficulty in upper octave notes later on, simply drop down. If you find it super easy to sing the upper octave, then just pick up a higher scale. You will get there eventually; this is nothing to sweat about.
Nothing else is needed to start with.

What is Sargams Tab
Having done the settings you are ready to explore the app. The Sargams tab is exactly what it says, Sargams. This is very simple, you select a sargam and you sing with it. All of us are taught basic Sargams when we start. These Sargams are lifelong companions. So you do want to practice them every day. Even 5 minutes is fine.
There are several Sargams, and to help you get in the groove, we have two special Sargams, “5 Minutes Simple” and “5 Minutes Difficult”. But before you venture into them, try something simple. The “SRG RGM …” is a simple Sargam to ease into. Don’t even worry about singing it to begin with. Just see how it plays out. Once you have heard it a few times, try singing it. The unique “grouping” feature helps you to see notes grouped in logical order.
Once you have explored various Sargams, check out the “5 Minutes Simple” and “5 Minutes Difficult” Sargams. At this point, make a commitment to yourself that you will spend 5 minutes every day singing something from this tab.
What is Sur Practice Tab
Things get interesting here. We will allow you to sing single notes and provide real-time feedback. This is the best way to get your “Sureelapan”. Remember the old adage, ताल गया तो बाल गया, सुर गया तो सिर गया. Our Bujurgs have clearly stated the importance of Sureelapan. So here you go.
First and foremost, make sure you are in a quiet place. Ideally, you want to be on your AirPods. Just try something simple. Sing the Sa and watch the real-time feedback. <XXX Add stuff here>. To begin with, just stick to the Sa and see how that goes. Once you are comfortable, try the Re.
As you get more and more familiar, keep trying the other Surs. Remember patience is the key. Rome was not built in a day, and Sureelapan will not be achieved in 5 minutes. The key is to do this every day. You will see that songs you could not sing would be getting simpler and simpler, within your grasp. And more importantly, you will start enjoying them, and then your friends will enjoy your singing too
